Description

This project was run through the University of Auckland’s School of Population Health. COMPASS staff were involved first in their roles for the Centre for Health Services Research and Policy and then as part of the Social Statistics Research Group. The main aims of the project were to:

  1. Identify sources General Practitioners (GPs) use to inform themselves on prescribing decisions;
  2. Describe how GPs keep their information up-to-date;
  3. Identify what other factors influence GPs’ prescribing decisions.

Data were collected from 99 GPs and 17 GP trainees with a half-hour questionnaire delivered via Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI).
